Clinical experience
Christoph has more than 20 years’ experience as a qualified anaesthesiologist, most of this time as a consultant at Geneva University Hospitals.

Under the mentorship of Professor Martin Tramèr, he has worked more than 10 years as a senior consultant jointly responsible for the ENT-Neurology Unit. During this time, he was almost exclusively involved in anaesthesia for neurosurgery, otorhinolaryngological surgery, as well as plastic, reconstructive and maxillofacial surgery. He also acquired a solid knowledge in the management of difficult airways, participated in studies on neuromonitoring (Bi-Spectral Index), perfected his skills in neuroanaesthesia, and conducted his first clinical studies.

Experience
Non-Operating Room Anaesthesia (NORA)

At the beginning of 2017, Christoph was entrusted with the management and organization of the Non-Operating Room Anesthesia (NORA) sector, covering interventional specialties such as cardiology, pneumology, gastroenterology, radiology, and neuroradiology. He supervised cardioversions in the recovery room and the ultrasound-guided placement of central venous catheters, with the NORA sector accounting for approximately 4,600 anesthesia procedures and 2,600 outpatient consultations annually, and an estimated growth rate between 6% and 14%.
From June 2019 to June 2023, Christoph served as Head of the Division of Anesthesiology at the Regional Hospital of Lugano, the largest hospital in Ticino, which specializes in complex surgeries and advanced medical care across numerous disciplines.
Recently, Christoph has joined Narkose.ch, the first Acert certified ambulant anesthesia provider in Switzerland. In this new role, he is dedicated to enhancing the standards of outpatient anesthesia care, leveraging his extensive experience to prioritize patient safety and comfort.

Promoting ambulant surgery
Ambulatory surgery, or outpatient surgery, is poised to play an increasingly significant role in Switzerland's healthcare landscape. A critical aspect of this evolution is the role of anesthesia, particularly locoregional anesthesia, which is essential for ensuring patient comfort and safety during and after procedures.
Locoregional anesthesia effectively renders patients pain-free, enabling them to engage in their recovery immediately. By alleviating pain, it allows patients to return home on the same day following their surgery, which is a fundamental component of the ambulatory model. As surgical techniques continue to advance and become less invasive, the use of locoregional anesthesia will expand, enabling a broader range of procedures to be safely conducted in outpatient settings.
Narkose.ch stands out as the largest Acert-certified private anesthesia provider for ambulant surgery in Switzerland. By implementing high standards in anesthesia care and prioritizing patient safety, Narkose.ch is at the forefront of this evolving field, ensuring that patients receive quality, efficient outpatient services.
With the growing emphasis on patient-centered care, the integration of advanced anesthesia practices at facilities like Narkose.ch will enhance patient satisfaction and optimize healthcare resources. Additionally, the development of telemedicine facilitates pre-operative assessments and post-operative care, improving access and communication between patients and healthcare providers.
The future of ambulatory surgery in Switzerland will largely depend on advancements in anesthesia, particularly locoregional techniques, which will ensure that patients experience the highest level of comfort and safety. By fostering a supportive and innovative outpatient surgical environment, Switzerland is well-positioned to lead in providing efficient, high-quality healthcare solutions.
Promoting safer practice

In alignment with his commitment to patient safety, Christoph implemented several key principles:
